Bainbridge Island is the perfect fall escape. My great Aunt Margie and Uncle Jerry are in town and staying in Bainbridge Island with their family. They are from Montana, and passing through on their way to see my cousin, their son, in Oregon. He is receiving an award for being a drummer in the band, Flock of Seagulls. He’s being inducted into the Oregon Music Hall of Fame.

My boyfriend Derek and I met my aunt to snack on clam chowder, fish, and chips at Ivar’s Fish Bar near the ferry dock. Then we took the ferry to Bainbridge and hung out at my aunt’s in – law’s house. We ventured into their backyard, which has a beach, and tons of blackberries growing everywhere. We starting picking some straight off the vine to eat. They are tart, and perfectly ripe at this time of year.
